Swagbucks is a website where you can earn rewards by doing activities you normally do, such as shopping, searching the web, watching videos, playing games, printing coupons, and taking surveys.

Every time you complete one of these activities, you can earn points called SBs, which are redeemable for cash and gift cards.

How Swagbucks Works

swagbucks homepage of website

Becoming a member of Swagbucks is very simple. Start by joining their website or downloading their mobile app (available on both Android and iOS). You can then collect points (known as SB's) by participating in a variety of different activates including taking surveys, shopping online, watching videos, and more. You can then exchange your SB's for gift cards or PayPal cash.

Joining is free (and new members even get the $5 joining bonus!), and is available to residents of the USA, UK, Canada, Germany, France, Spain, India, Australia, and Ireland.

Earning SB's

After logging in to their website (or in the app), you will see links to Shop, Search, Watch, Play, Answer, Discover.

  • Online Shopping

Receive “cashback” for making purchases from major online stores through Swagbucks. These include Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, and more. Simply log in to the Swagbucks shopping page and click on the online retailer you wish to make a purchase from. Swagbucks earns a commission from your purchases, but will return a portion of it back to you in the form of SBs which will be earned for every dollar spent.
  • Searching

Swagbucks has a search engine called 'Swagbucks Search'. You can use it just like a regular search engine to earn bucks. If you conduct a lot of internet searches in any given day, this can be a great way to easily earn SB's. You can install the Swagbucks browser extension for Chrome which can make it easier to get into the habit of using the Swagbucks Search over Google, Bing, etc.
  • Watching Videos

Using Swagbucks watch, you can watch videos about music, news, entertainment, pets, travel, and more, to earn credits to your account. The earning potential for this is on the low side, but it's still a method of collecting SBs if you're looking for some entertainment.
  • Answering Surveys

Access Swagbucks Answer to take surveys and earn points. Swagbucks lists a ton of different online surveys that can be answered for rewards. Each survey will list the estimated time it'll take to complete, the topic of the study, as well as the number of SBs you will earn. Product testing opportunities occasionally become available. Expect to earn approximately 40 - 200 SB points per survey (100 SB = $1), with earning potential up to $50 (5000 SB) for longer and hard to qualify for surveys.
  • Discovering

The Swagbucks 'Discover' section is one of the fastest ways of earning SB points. You can earn a significant number of points for signing up for product and service trials (things like TIDAL music streaming, audiobook trials, gambling website trials, etc.) or for opening new credit card accounts or bank accounts. If you're currently looking to switch credit cards, banks, or try a new financial product (such as a new type of investment account), log in to your Swagbucks account before signing up! You might be able to earn thousands of SBs just for clicking through to the service provider via your Swagbucks account.
  • Printing Grocery Coupons

Under the 'Shop' section of Swagbucks (depending on your country of residence), you can find printable coupons for things like cleaning products, diapers, toothpaste, candy, etc. Each time you print a coupon, you will earn 1 SB. It will take a few weeks after the redemption for the SB to show in your account, however without the added bonus of receiving SB points, the printable coupons offered on this part of the website are generally for products that you probably already purchase and from big brands such as Swiffer, Mr. Clean, Febreze, Pampers, Crest, Becel, etc.
  • Referring Friends

If you have friends who would be good candidates for Swagbucks, make sure you refer them so that you can earn 10% of what they earn (as they remain active). For instance, if your referral earns 5,000 SB ($50) in their first month, you will receive a $5 bonus (500 SB) credited to your account. Simply log in to your Swagbucks account to get your unique sign up link which you can then share with friends, extended family, on your blog, etc.
  • Entering Swag Codes

Swag Codes are promotional codes that can be entered into the Swagbucks website which give you free SBs (Swagbucks). Find out where to find swag codes that can help boost your earnings.

Payment and Rewards

Millions in Rewards Awarded

You can redeem your SB's for two main reward options: cash, or e-gift cards. One SB is worth approximately 1 cent, so 2500 SBs = $25.00. To date, Swagbucks has awarded over 800 million dollars to their members!

PayPal Payments

If you're a fan of cold, hard cash, you can exchange your SBs for money by requesting a PayPal payment to your PayPal account. Payments take approximately 10-14 days to process and are issued in US dollars, regardless of where you live. If you are outside of the USA, PayPal can automatically convert these USD into your local currency, or you can keep a separate USD balance in your account if you wish. You can request a PayPal payment in the following denominations: $25, $50, $100, and $250.

Tons of e-Gift Card Options

If you choose to redeem your SBs for a gift card versus a PayPal payment, you'll find that you can receive it with a lower balance. Denominations for gift cards vary and depending on the retailer, but they can be as low as $1 and as high as $100. E-gift cards are issued within 10 days of request are available to a wide variety or retailers including Amazon, Home Depot, Starbucks, Facebook, iTunes, a huge variety of restaurants, hotels, and more. Denominations of as low as $1 - $100 are available.

Member's Tip! Look out for “sales” on gift cards, where you can redeem your SBs for around 10% less the SB's they normally require.

You may also donate your SB's to charities such as Unicef, Doctors Without Borders, Red Cross, etc. Donation amounts start at only 5 SB’s ($0.05).

Depends

If you do a lot of shopping, this site is interesting. I never had much luck with it survey-wise though.

good, consistent site

July 5, 2019 by Steve from United States

I've been a member of Swagbucks for over a year. They were the first site I joined. Although they're not the highest paying site, they are probably the most consistent. The always pay when they say, and there are always a lot of available surveys. I plan to keep using Swagbucks.

Swagbucks is legit

July 4, 2019 by Ricardo from United States

I test as many online survey sites and leave reviews on my you tube channel for people interested in the real deals and how legit these sites are. I can say that Swagbucks is in the top 10. I joined a month ago and have already earned and cashed in $8 dollars in Amazon ecodes and $25 dollar PayPal. It does take longer than they say to received your payout, usually it's about 8 days from my experience. The only negative thing I can say about them are a that a couple things on the site and in the app do not work properly. They are #1 the Swago game pieces do not highlight once I complete some of them, mainly the ones associated with activating the swag button. #2 in the app in the top right corner is where you are supposed to enter swag codes, this does not work. I have not been able to successfully redeem any free swag codes. I have put in help tickets to the tech team so they are aware and hopefully will fix. Other than that Swagbucks is a great way to earn some extra money while sitting at home. I you like taking surveys and would like to see my full review for Swagbucks or any of the others I have done visit my you tube channel MPowerS Media and you will find them under the playlist Survey Site Reviews. I am in the process of uploading more reviews so bear with me. If you would like me to test a site leave me a comment as well. Happy surveying.

Sometimes it's great. Sometimes, not so much.

I've been with Swagbucks for at least 7 years. I've made total over $4000 over that time. Not a lot, but every penny helps. Most of their content is from other vendors- survey companies, video streamers, game providers- so Swagbucks itself has no control over whether I'll qualify for a survey or whether a video will run for me. Most of my frustrations come from poorly worded/set up surveys from third-party survey companies, or video playlists that suddenly pay less per playlist. These things are not directly Swagbucks' fault. I have found the customer service/problem resolution to be improving over time. And I have a system now for how I use Swagbucks, so it works for me as a pennies-a-day stream of income.

Swag Snag

June 30, 2019 by Jill from United States

It would be great if SB actually used my profile info in determining which surveys they send to me. Being retired, with no kids under 18, lower scale of income, and middle aged...I am not the target market for many surveys & studies and at least an auto-fill of my,profile data would save me a lot of time...and frustration. Speaking of time, the estimated time SB posts to complete a survey very underestimated, especially when you can spend 15 minutes answering questions only to be told I'm not a match, even after they told me I am a match and the survey is beginning..that is...IF they tell you when qualifying ends and the survey begins. It is extremely frustrating to be 20-30 minutes into a survey and all of a sudden, "We have no more questions" because I answered honestly, mainly, what I've noticed is when I don't pick a specific brand or store, or probability of buying within a certain time frame. The surveyors expect me to be transparent and honest with my answers, its no longer Qualifying when I've spent up to 45 mins whittling down, answering VERY MARKET & PRODUCT SPECIFIC questions & opinions for all of a sudden "We have no more questions" and I think the survey is complete only to be told "Not every survey is a match" and No SB or 1 as a consolation for wasting 45 minutes. And its NOT that there's a discrepancy or inconsistency in my answers, its VERY obvious, they've collected the bulk if their market data and at the end, they whittled and narrowed it down, the progress bar 90% complete, and SORRY! Finally, on a similar note...to have them tell you the survey is complete (or last few questions demographics which basically is a bunch of the same questions I answered to qualify) the program locks up, an error, or OOPS SOMETHINGS wrong, and simply does not cycle back around to the SB site for payment. (And of course, this usually happens at the end of a VERY long, higher value survey). I have been trying SB for 2-3 weeks and have found it to be more frustrating than it is worth. I DID earn a $25 reward, which I choose PayPal Cash, which I was told my PP A
acct was verified upon redemption, then didn't find it in my PP account, but my SB are gone only to DIG QUITE DEEP to learn it takes 10-14 to process and actually show and be available in my PP account. So, OK...then I get an email 4-5 days later telling me I needed to verify the order & account or it would be cancelled. No emails regarding this issue for 4-5 days...then POOF! URGENT! Action required. So, I took action in time and am now being told my PayPal GIFT CARD will be emailed to me within 10-14 days. The redemption site said that the money would be deposited into my PP account, now they going to email me a gift card. Is there even such a thing as a PP "gift card". More frustration. ON A POSITIVE NOTE:..there are some VERY credible, transparent, and well laid out surveys and studies that I enjoy participating in...even if they take me twice as long as the estimated SB completion, I feel my honest & thoughtful input was appreciated.
